In the pink – there’s a new girl in town
As I was catching up on New York Fashion week online yesterday, I obviously went through my favorite designers and started with Marchesa noticing many of my favorite models in that show like newly divorced and still gorgeous Karen Elson. What struck me the most was seeing a pink haired model walk down the runway and I thought to myself, “That’s cool that such a couture driven brand is pushing boundaries by having their very own Punky Brewster type of girl walk in the show”. Not thinking much of it, I couldn’t help but notice the same girl as she reappeared in more and more New York shows like Jeremy Scott and Libertine.
Only then it hit me, this is possibly the model of the season. Many of you have probably not met the young American beauty, so let us introduce you to Charlotte Free, the Pink Haired Model of the Moment, and boy do we love her here at D-Journal. The last time punk and couture were ever seen on a catwalk was 15 years or so ago when Kate Moss (by special request from the house of Versace) walked down the ramp in pink hair.
After doing some research on the beauty, it has come to my knowledge that she had started last March during Paris Fashion Week, walking for the likes of Vivienne Westwood and so but this season, it is proven that she is not a one hit wonder and Charlotte is here to stay.
The fashion world doesn’t fail to surprise us continuously with pushing boundaries, first there was the androgynous Girl/Boy model Andrej Pejic and now Charlotte. So what next? One could only imagine!
